I woke up at 8am this morning to a knock at my door. The complex maintenance team wanted my to bring in my plants and now before the latest of the hurricanes hit. After the general let down that was the last storm, I must admit I have been generally apathetic about preparing for this one. But at 8am on a Saturday morning, I took the plants in anyway. I put them in the tub. But here's the thing. I think I brought something else in with them. Every so often, I hear a rustling coming from the bathroom -- a skittering of claws on porceline, or a leafy sound of movement. By the time I get there and flick on the light switch, all that there is to see is few fern fronds swaying as if just disturbed. The cat wont leave her perch on the toilet. She wont go in the tub though. Sometimes she cackles and mewls like she sees a bird outside and wants to draw my attention. She is happy for my company in the bathroom. She purrs and trots expectantly up and down the rim of the tub when I join her. She seems to think that whatever is in there is my problem, that this is just out of her league. She's just keeping watch until reinforcements arrive. My plants and whatever accompanied them must stay inside until Monday morning, thus spake Maintenance. I can only hope that whatever is occupying my large rabbit-foot fern is happy enough there to wait out the storm. I can only hope it doesn't get too curious. :::::::::::::::::<<-We go, we go!:::::Yes, forward on the foe!->>::::::::::::::::: Bathtub Jungle - 2004-09-04
